After years of small local tournaments and late-night practice sessions, the Willow Glen Chess Club has finally made its biggest move. Thanks to support raised through Ev’ryday, the club has secured the funds to attend this year’s Grand Masters Championship in St. Louis, Missouri - the heart of American chess.

For longtime member Richard Evans, it’s a dream come true. “We never imagined our small club would one day sit among the world’s greatest players. It shows what persistence - on and off the board - can achieve.”

The championship is famed for its atmosphere of quiet intensity, where every move counts. For Willow Glen, just being there is a victory, offering inspiration they’ll bring back to their own games and community.

To share the experience, the club will host a special evening at the Willow Glen Community Center in November, replaying matches and recounting stories from their journey.
